Sunday - May 11, 2008

Nancy's Embroidery, Thorndon Quay, Wellington.

Miniature Flower Basket  10 am - 4pm

A trellis stitched basket is filled with many flowers using surface stitchery and ribbon work.  From the Miniature Embroidered Quilt  Collection, this block is 5" and can be used as a centre of a cushion, a wall hanging or the start of a quilt. Level of skill - some embroidery experience.



Monday - June 2, 2008  through Saturday - June 7, 2008

Quilt Canada, St John's, Newfoundland, Canada.

Tropical Flowers of the Night. June 4th and 5th

Tropical prints are used in two different ways. The students can choose to use only one feature fabric for the wall hanging or several very wild and tropical looking fabrics. The blocks will be "fussy cut" and set in either a colourwash of a batik fabric, leaf print or a plain fabric for the background.
Level of skill - suitable for those who are good at rotary cutting and piecing.

 Adding the Third Dimension to Quilts June 6th (all day)

This workshop will show how to make three-dimensional pieces using the sewing machine, to add a third dimension to quilts in the form of flowers, leaves and tendrils. These pieces could also be used as decoration for bags or clothing.
Level of skill - the students need to be familiar with their sewing machines.

 Gold and Glittery Purses. June 7th (all day)

Machine appliqué and embellish fabric for a small purse with machine embroidery in different threads. The purse can have a purchased handle or a fold over flap.
Level of skill - suitable for students with accurate machining skills.

Lecture-  7pm Inspiration for Quilts from New Zealand Gardens.  A PowerPoint lecture showing New Zealand Quilts and featuring the inspiration from  Gardens in New Zealand.



Thursday - June 12, 2008

Milford Valley Valley Quilters Guild, PA, USA

Fireworks 9.30 am - 4.30pm

A small wall panel of black and starry colourwashed squares is embellished with straight stitch machine embroidery to depict fireworks.

National Quilting Association Annual Quilt Show

To be held at Greater Coloumbus Convention Center in Coloumbus, Ohio.

Adding the Third Dimension to Quilts - Thursday 19 June - Full Day

This workshop will show how to make three-dimensional pieces using the sewing machine, to add a third dimension to quilts in the form of flowers, leaves and tendrils. Beginners Guide to Machine Applique - Friday 20 June - Full Day

In this class the students will learn several methods of Machine Appliqué.
Level of skill - suitable for all levels.

Vermont Quilt Festival, Vermont, USA.

Miniature Strawberry Wreath  - Thursday 26th June, Half Day a.m.

From the Miniature Embroidered Quilt Collection,  this 5" block has needlelace strawberries and ribbon work flowers. This class will be 3 hours and can be combined with the Grape Wreath.  Level of skill - some embroidery experience.

This class shows how to make a small decor purse featuring strip patchwork, piped edges and a rouleau cord.  Level of skill - all levels.
